The figures shown below are based on studies and surveys carried out in the Netherlands. We can assume similar figures for other European countries.

  • 20 to 30 per cent of the working population complain about work-related ailments concerning the neck, shoulder, the arms, wrists and fingers. Within the group of VDU workers a striking 50 per cent suffer from RSI-related ailments.
  • One in ten RSI-affected persons consequently see their GP. One in 100 reaches an absence rate of more than three months owing to this illness.
  • 8 per cent of all lost working hours due to illness can be regarded as RSI-related.
  • People who use the keyboard rather than the mouse suffer to the same extent from RSI symptoms as those who rather use their mouse a lot.


An additional information: In Germany of today, 16,3 Mio. people are office workers, thus working at the computer in the majority of cases.
